"TRUTH ISN`T FLASHY - FLASHY WORDS AREN`T TRUE"

While defending the mind, studying and interacting on the internet, we will often deal with the notions of what is true or untrue.

We come across concepts that seem "foreign" or strange at first, and we might be tempted to reject what we do not immediately understand or what is not so familiar. On the other hand others might only be interested in what is new and untried and disregard what is ancient and tested. This is a very fine line to walk, because we always want to put labels and words around things and feelings.

Below is the last (81st) passage of the TAO TE CHING. The first quote of 81 is in the most modern language we use now, by Ron Hogan in his version of the "TTC", and the one below is the translation of 81 by Aleister Crowley. As you can see many great minds have set themselves to the task of working with the "TTC". I wonder why?

See what you think when you look at the two versions, and then see how it applies to you reading materials on the internet that are either designed to uplift your spirits or to make you feel morose or ready to cave in to the dictates of religions and government organizations.

The NWO and dark force types will usually send you depressing materials, but it can also come couched in weird things, such as Scientology, or "new age." The other types will give you things you can work with to stay or become positive. Sometimes the well-meaning ones might send you a sharp warning, one that on the face of it might look depressing, to make you think. It is not always simple to distinguish these things at first.

However, you will have to discern what is true or flashy, there can be grey zones inbetween, as the NWO-"thinkers" and other truly independent authors sort of compete for your attention in this game of information and dis-information.

81.

The truth isn't flashy.
Flashy words aren't true.

Educated people
aren't always smart.
Smart people
don't always have an education.

Good people don't argue.
People who argue aren't good.

The Masters don't hang on to things.
They're always doing something
for other people,
so they always have more to give.
They give away
whatever they have,
so what they have is worth more.

If you want to get right with Tao,
help other people, don't hurt them.
The Masters always work with people,
never against them.

Now compare this to an older original:

81

THE SHEWING-FORTH OF SIMPLICITY

True speech is not elegant; elaborate speech is not truth. Those who
know do not argue; the argumentative are without knowledge. Those who
have assimilated are not learned; those who are gross with learning have
not assimilated.

The Wise Man doth not hoard. The more he giveth, the more he hath; the
more he watereth, the more is he watered himself.

The Tao of Heaven is like an Arrow, yet it woundeth not; and the Wise
Man, in all his Works, maketh no contention.
